What is psychotherapy?

It's not unusual to feel so overwhelmed that you cannot handle your problems. The good news is that you are not alone, psychotherapy can help you.

Psychotherapy is the process of meeting with a psychotherapist to work through problems, providing techniques and processes that will help you develop a happier and healther life.

As a psychotherapist, I will help you understand what makes you feel positive or worried, I will help you to understand and accept your strengths and weaknesses. I will help you identify your feelings and this will enable you to become better at coping with difficult situations.

There are a number of types of psychotherapy. I am predominantly a psychodynamic psychotherapist, also using techniques from other modalities such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) where appropriate.

Here's a great article from Scientific American Mind which presents a strong case for the powerful benefits of Psychodynamic Therapy.

How does it work?

I meet with my clients face to face for one on one 60 minute sessions at the Marua Road clinic.

Normally, we will meet once every week however we may agree that meeting more often will be helpful.

What about confidentiallity?

Maintaining client confidentiality is guaranteed, noting that considerations of safety or legal obligations may on occasion override confidentiality. You are welcome to discuss any concerns regarding confidentiality at any time.

How much does it cost?
